Week 2 Circus Week
We are excited to experience all the amazing things the circus has to offer this week in preschool!
Science: What can I find at the circus that’s cool and sweet? Snow cones, of course! Ms. Jen has a fun science lesson where the kids will make a fizzy snow cone.
Music: Elephants have a distinct sound when they blow their trunk, Mr. Colin’s lesson is making sounds of their own using instruments with elephants on them to make music and march in an elephant parade.
Math: There are so many different types animals at the circus, who’s going to count them all? Ms. Bri is practicing one-to-one correspondence with the kids to keep track of all of the circus animals.
Large Motor: Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you Ms. Julia’s circus obstacle course where kids will walk on a balance beam, stomp and hop like the animals, and climb through a hoop like the lions.
Social/Emotional: Ms. Patricia’s show lion is missing his tail but with the preschoolers working together cheering on one another, they will complete the lion look by pinning on his tail.
Small Motor: Butter on popcorn is delicious! Ms. Emily is a teaching the kids to use their small motor skills by painting cotton balls with water color paint to mimic the circus treat.
Literacy: Mmm it’s sugary, it’s sweet, its cotton candy! Ms. Kelly is having the preschoolers build cotton candy cones by matching upper and lower case letters.
Cooking: All of this circus fun has got everybody hungry. Luckily Ms. Amanda has just the right activity. The kids will be making a lion graham cracker snack using pretzels, sneaky chef butter (no-nut butter), raisins, and graham crackers.
